The Eclipse boot is engineered to address the common challenge of achieving an immediate, precise fit. Featuring a completely redesigned last that mirrors the natural foot shape, it reduces side pressure, enhances arch support, and secures the heel and ankle snugly. Testers report a custom-like fit from the first wear.
The Eclipse weights less than the Jet, thanks in part to a more rigid resin system and reduced thermoplastic. By trimming excess material while maintaining a strong carbon base, we’ve created a boot that stays responsive under pressure but won’t weigh you down over long distances.
While it’s less heat moldable than the Jet, it still offers a solid degree of custom fitting. Just not as soft or forgiving during the mold as the Jet. The benefit? It holds its shape longer and offers better energy transfer.
One of the key changes from the Jet to the Eclipse is the redesigned cuff. On the Jet, some skaters found that the cuff was too wide, creating a gap around the ankle. The Eclipse addresses this with a narrower, more sculpted shape that wraps securely around your ankle bone, enhancing both comfort and control when cornering and sprinting.
The Jet used Bont’s original sizing, developed more than 50 years ago. It worked, but it wasn’t ideal for modern shopping, especially online. The Eclipse introduces a completely updated sizing system that aligns more closely with athletic shoe sizes.
Sizes now increase in consistent 5mm increments, which makes for a more precise and predictable fit. This also means more sizing options will be available to help you dial in the right boot size, especially if you're in between standard sizes.
With the Eclipse, we’ve narrowed the color choices to just 2: black & white. This change helps us stock more boots at the factory, making it easier and faster to ship out your order. It also reflects a more modern aesthetic, clean, bold, and high-performance.
Each colorway was carefully chosen to complement the lines of the boot, giving it a sleek, aggressive look that matches its race-ready performance.
The Eclipse is ideal for skaters who are entering the sport with serious intent, as well as competitive-level skaters who want a high-performance boot without going all the way to a fully custom build. It’s for skaters who want:
Whether you’re moving up from your first skate or looking for a lighter, better-fitting upgrade from your current boots, the Eclipse delivers elite performance at an accessible price point.
Bont has been building high-performance skate boots since 1975. Every model we create starts with a focus on foot shape and fit, because comfort and control start at the foundation. With the Eclipse, we’ve applied everything we’ve learned from decades of bootmaking and feedback from thousands of skaters worldwide.
This isn’t just a new model. It’s the next step in the evolution of how a speed skating boot should fit, perform, and look.
Q: Is the Eclipse more or less heat moldable than the Jet?
A: The Eclipse is still heat moldable, but less so than the Jet. It uses a stiffer resin system and doesn’t include thermoplastic in the heel. This results in a lighter boot that holds its shape longer.
Q: What mounting does the Eclipse use?
A: The Eclipse uses the standard 195mm inline speed skate mount, making it compatible with most modern frames.
Q: How do I choose the right size in the new system?
A: The new Eclipse sizing follows consistent 5mm jumps, similar to athletic shoe sizing. We recommend using our updated sizing chart and measuring your foot length to find the best fit.
